ALBER ELBAZ QUOTES AND FASHION ADVICE

Everyone knows he is the creative director of Lanvin and he also seems to be the only person in the fashion business who knows how to handle the worldwide econimic crisis.
Buying a Lanvin piece is like acquiring a heirloom; even the label is recognisable, it has the vantaggio of never going out of style. Alber knows what women want from clothes: elegance, comfort and that they make you feel amazing. What else could we ask for to a dress?
Here are some of his honest and precious fashion advice (from Grazia UK).
ON CREDIT CRUNCH DRESSING:
"When people worring they should be wearing only jeans and a top from Zara in these difficult times, I say "non-sense". After a rose, and maybe chocolate, a pink dress is the only thing guarantee to make us happy".
ON DRESSING FOR YOURSELF:
"I know some women who dress to upset other women or to kiss a man. I think a woman looks best when she dresses for herself".
ON MIXING THINGS UP:
"I don't like accessories that match.Life is one big accident; I like it when style reflects that".
ON THE POWER OF A LANVIN DRESS:
"I have a friend who says that everytime she wears a Lanvin dress, a man falls in love with her. I say that next time I'd like her to fall in love: she needs to be more in control".
ON HIS DESIGN PHILOSOPHY:
"I look at French fashion like a chef might look at food: taking cream out and replacing with olive oil to make it lighter. So I take the corseting and stiffness out to make the clothes comfortable. To me, comfort is everything".

OBSESSION N°2 - THE LANVIN T-SHIRT

I told you I had another Lanvin obsession and here it is! This t-shirt is amazing! I like to imagine it paired with leggings or very skinny cropped jeans and high heel platforms. And this is also a lot cheaper than the clutch bag!

MY CURRENT OBSESSION

This Lanvin clutch is my crush of the moment! I like how it is able to make every outfit so feminine (even the most shabby boyish one) and as I'm totally in love with the leopard blue and fucsia printed one shoulder dress of the ss09 collection, getting this bag will be the only way for me to put my hands on that pattern before it will go away! Even at €700!?!?! maybe when on sales... could be, could be. Let's not put limits to fate.
Actually there is only another way to have it... there's a Lanvin t-shirt with a lady on it wearing that dress.. but this is an other story and an other post.

STELLA MCCARTNEY

It seems really weird to me that everyone everywhere (in magazines, blogs or even on tv shows) is talking and reviewing every single fall/winter 2010 catwalk show and nobody takes care of the pre-fall designer collections??? WHY? Neither I had the occasion of thinking about this whole world of new pieces that will be put on sales first in shops when a couple of days ago I found a complete list of all the pre-fall collections at style.com!
The pictures above are a small selection of my favourite ones:
I'm totally deserate to have that fur coat from Ysl (1st pic) and most of the other photos of Stefano Pilati collection were reflecting the same austere and monochrome designs he proposed since last fall which I found very elegant and feminine.
I must say that Lanvin pre-collection is even better than the collection itself! I felt in love with the metallic dress and the belted rounded coat. Alber Elbaz said that looking glamorous is a feminine survival instinct towards the recession of these times and he showed us how to make this happen.
Givenchy did nothing too innovative or different from his latest designs while Stella surprised me a lot with that zebra printed dress (the other one with the metallic holes reminds me a lot of Givenchy 2007 collection).

THE BALLOON EFFECT

picture from coolechicstylefashion.blogspot

A new way of showing dresses! With a wind-effect we can give them the shape of a balloon. The picture is from Lanvin window in Paris by Jack & Jill.

Curious and original!
