CHICCHERIE: inspiration board

what is fashion to me???

Fashion is my life, from runway shows to celebrity style, to the pure joy of putting things together - I love it all!

For me, fashion is all about INDIVIDUALITY - It doesn't matter how much you paid for a piece, who designed it or where you bought it, it's more about how you feel and the way you are wearing it. And DETAILS are so important to define style. A frilly top under a dark boyfriend jacket or a foulard wrapped around a handbag, a pair of lace feminine tights under ripped acid skinny jeans, the way a trench belt is tied around the waist could transform every outfit, making a tacky piece looking expensive, original, creative and fashionable. It's no more about the clothes themselves. It's about us.
And this is what CHICCHERIE means to me.

I love sharing special details that make a better life with everyone who can recognize true beauty. Enjoy!

Fashion quotes

"The lower I feel, the higher the heel". Giovanna Battaglia

"I like my money right where I can see it... hanging in my closet!"
Carrie Bradshaw

"Dress SHABBILY and they remember the dress; dress IMPECCABLY and they remember the woman"
Coco Chanel

"I'd rather go naked than dress badly"

Miss at la playa

"Fashion fades, style is eternal"

Coco Chanel

"The more visible they make me, the more invisible I become".

Kate Moss

"If clothes look beautiful on the hangers they won't necessarily look beautiful on the body. And that means what may not look good on the hanger, may look good on the body. Mr. Geoffrey Beene once told me that fashion is not what's on the back or front of a coat but what's in between".

Alber Elbaz, Creative Director, Lanvin

"If you are wearing lingerie that makes you feel glamorous, you're halfway there to turning heads"

Elle Macpherson

"Fashion is not something that exsists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening".

Coco Chanel

"Isn't elegance forgetting what one is wearing"?

Yves Saint Laurent

"I like to wear high heels with sweatpants, to wear white shoes in the middle of winter. I love when things are not quite going together. Even when I am old I will dress like that. Sometimes when you go to airport and look at the people, you see the worst looks - but the worst looks can give you more ideas than the best looks".

Carine Roitfeld

"What is beautiful for you may not be beautiful to someone else. Or what is beautiful here may not be beautiful there and what is sometimes beautiful today is not necessarily beautiful tomorrow. Perhaps this the story of fashion and what makes fashion move forward, the fact that there is no decision whatsoever with what's wrong".

Alber Elbaz, Artistic Director, Lanvin

"La semplicità è un lusso riservato alle persone ricchissime, di denaro o di sentimenti".

Honoré de Balzac

"What constitutes great personal style? This is one of the question I get asked the most. We tend to think that to achieve great personal style someone must have perfect clarity about who they are and what they stand for. I politely disagree. I think conflict about who you are often leads to even greater expression. That is why young people, or the young at heart, are those that inspire or move fashion forward. They are still struggling to find themselves: 'Am I a rocker? A footballer? or a little bit of both?' These contraddictions produce the most interestiong looks".

Scott Schuman from his book The Sartorialist

"Everybody wants to do everything, everybody needs to do everything, and everybody feels that he can. And I'm still feeling that a dancer should dance and a chef should cook and a singer should sing and a designer of clothes should do clothes. Because the moment we try to do everything for ourselves, we're becoming very mediocre in what we do, and we don't go to extremes and we don't touch excellente. And I prefer to touch excellence".

Alber Elbaz, Creative Director at Lanvin

"If people ask me to describe my look I always say: quite classic with an edge. Look at my dress. It doesn’t look like I have on anything special, it’s more the way you mix the clothes and how you move, how you open your bag, how you cross your legs – just that, little things make a difference. With French women you first see the woman and then you see the clothes. Imagine other countries like Russia or China, even Eastern Europe. They don’t have the culture of clothes so they want to show that they can afford to buy a Dolce & Gabbana bag, they want to show labels. In France you cannot see what labels we are wearing. It is very snobby".
